Mike is a kind, perceptive teacher who not only teaches effectively, but also engages students with the material. For my personal statements, he provided timely, constructive feedback and helped me communicate my ideas clearly. Thanks to him, I came into the college application process with essays and scores that I was happy with, and was accepted to my top choice, where I currently attend!

Mike was, without a doubt, one of my favorite teachers of all time.  I was a student in Mike’s PSAT, SATI and SATII prep courses, and his lessons were the very reason I was able to achieve high scores, which ultimately opened up the gates to being accepted to every college I applied to.  I had never been one who could commit things to memory with brute memorization, so Mike’s interactive teaching style were crucial to my effective learning.  Mike is jovial, light-hearted, and creates such a positive and fun learning environment that I actually enjoyed spending my summers sitting in a room learning vocabulary.  He still manages to maintain a structured learning environment despite being the “cool” teacher.  Mike has been in this industry for decades, and had taught not only myself but both of my siblings as well.  I say with utmost sincerity that I learned to enjoy learning from Mike, and that I owe much of my academic success to him.

Michael Beubis, also known as Mr Mike to his students, was one of the best teachers I have ever had the privilege to learn from. His amicable personality, patience, as well as SAT smarts led me to my great life today. He not only helped me improve my SAT score by more than 300 points, but was able to revise and strengthen my statement of intent (also known as the college personal statement) which I believe helped push my college application even further allowing me to attend my dream school, University of California, San Diego (UCSD). After seeing how skilled Mr Mike was, my dad even had Mr Mike come into his company and assist others with writing skills!

Although I graduated UCSD many years ago, looking back, I wish that Mr Mike had been my english professor at UCSD because his teaching skills were more proficient than some of the university professors.

I currently work in a biotechnology start up in San Diego as a scientist utilizing stem cells as a form of cell therapy where writing is utilized everyday.

Mike was my go-to tutor throughout high school. I took PSAT, SAT, and SAT II with him and still remember some of the fundamental concepts that he taught to this day. Mike’s passion for helping his students in exhibited in the amount of attention to detail he provides in his lessons. Growing up, I had always had trouble with remembering vocabulary words and grammar rules, but Mike found different channels of memorization to ensure that I would be able to retain the information that I took in. To this day, I find myself thinking back on Mike’s lessons when I hear someone with incorrect grammar (especially when they say “I wish I was instead of I wish I were”). Not only did he help me attain high scores for the exams I took, but he essentially paved the way for my college application process. I was able to score high scores on both the grammar and critical reading portions of the SAT’s (above 700 on each), and was able to get into UC San Diego and immediately got a full time job offer upon graduation. Mike was such an enthusiastic and wonderful teacher that both my sister and brother sought him for tutoring as well. I can whole-heartedly thank Mike for much of my success today.
